When to use ‘for’ and ‘since’
We use ‘for’ to explain the amount of time we have done something for. For example: I have played the piano for 5 years. I lived in New Zealand for 12 years. I went on holiday for 7 days.
We use ‘since’ to describe the date or the age we were. I have played the piano since I was 7 or I have lived in Montpellier since 2012.
